EastEnders ' June Brown revealed she went deaf in Scotland after catching a flight here.

The Dot Cotton legend, who passed away yesterday at the age of 95 after starring on the BBC soap for more than 30 years , revealed in 2015 that a journey to Glasgow had impacted on her hearing.

June was a regular visitor to Scotland and would visit the Edinburgh Festival from time to time.

Some lucky Scots, us included, will even remember boogieing away with her at after parties in the Edinburgh festival's Assembly Rooms when she was in her 80s.

June, who was always sprightly, revealed the news of her hearing issues caused by trip to Scotland in 2015, after she spoke at a Q and A session in London's BFI.

She told fellow co-star Barbara Windsor at the time: "Are you talking to me Babs? Tell me, because I’m deaf you see and it’s very hard for me to hear so I don’t know what you’re talking about. What did you say to me?”

She told the crowd: “Sorry, I would like you all to shout because I can’t hear, you see. I am ever so sorry. I am straining here.”

June later told The Sun her journey to a Glasgow charity event, caused her hearing loss,

She explained: “Unfortunately it happened when I was going up to Glasgow for a charity,”

“I thought it was a bit unkind given I was flying up for charity. But I only spoke about it on stage because I was having a discussion with Barbara.”

June had also lost her sight around the same time saying: “I see things in my eyes now. My eyes are not very good. In the left occasionally I do get this small circle with what looks like cross-wires.I do pray about my sight – maybe it will return.”
