Dublin pubs: Popular Dublin boozer closed to reward hard-working staff with night out

A popular Dublin pub is closed this evening so that their hard-working staff can enjoy a proper night out.

The Long Hall pub will be closed until midday tomorrow, so that the team can let their hair down.

The Victorian-era pub is an important part of Dublin's history and even featured in the video of Phil Lynott's song, Old Town.

They had their fair share of difficulties during the pandemic with unexpected closures and staff shortages.

Management previously said that the pub had never seen anything like their five month closure in the pub's 254 year history.

And they took the decision today to reward the people who helped them through it all.

They tweeted: "We will be CLOSED today Monday 7th February to enable us to take all of our hard working Staff on a very well deserved night out.

"Apologies for any inconvenience caused.

"We’re back open tomorrow at 12.30pm. Sláinte!

Customers praised the pub for their decision and wished the staff well.

One person said: "Enjoy you guys deserve a good night out."

Another wrote: "Very well deserved! Hope everyone has a great night!"

A third commented: "What a lovely idea. Have a great time!"
