Dublin Airport queue times according to passengers as hectic scenes expected through summer months

The summer season is in full swing and as thousands of holidaymakers descend on the airport, another bout of lengthy delays are being experienced.

Officials confirmed there are a number of peak times where travellers can expect to meet these long queues through each terminal.

Their recent post confirmed that: “Peak times at Security can occur in Terminal 1 from 5:00 am to 8:00 am for morning flights, and in Terminal 2 at 5:00 am to 12:00 pm for morning and early afternoon flights.

“Terminal 1 has a second peak time at Security between 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm for evening flights. Weekends (especially bank holiday weekends) can be busy all day (weekends include Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday).

“For passengers on the earliest morning departures, please note that Security in T1 is now open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week while Security in T2 opens from 04.00, so people flying from T2 should factor this in.”

So we trawled Twitter for passenger accounts of travelling from morning until night to see when the busiest period has been over recent days - and it seems the airport advice is spot on.

Early morning deaprtures are the first to meet the lengthy queues, and with people arriving on site by 3:30 am some mornings, the knock-on effect is being seen by those arriving at the correct time before their flights.

6:00 am “T1 queue outside terminal, 25mins to get into bag drop (terminal) moving though. Queues inside terminal are pretty heavy and not moving much. #DublinAirport”

7:30 am “From bag drop through security in 1 hour at 07:30 to 08:30 in terminal 1 #DublinAirport”

Later in the morning things seems to be getting worse with some claiming to have waited over two hours to get through their terminal.

10:00 am “Been in security queue in terminal 2 for 20 minutes and I am still miles away from the screen telling the queue time from that point is 50 mins #dublinairport”

However, as midday approaches it seems things calm down once again before the evening surge of passengers.

11:46 am “Arrived in @DublinAirport this morning, bags on the belt 25 minutes after touch down, much improved on the 1 hour 15 minutes of late April. #DublinAirport”

12:35 pm “From bag drop, through security less than an hour #DublinAirport”

1:50 pm “Got to Dublin Airport around 1 and had gone through T1 security and sitting having lunch by 1.20!! It’s busy but moving really well. No big queues”

As the afternoon goes on, many noted that things were beginning to fill up once more but the worst delays were yet to come.

5:15 pm “45 minute security queue at @DublinAirport which is not too bad considering but post security is horrendous.”

Then, just as noted by the airport, as the evening rush arrives, passenger are swarming the terminals once again.

7:00 pm “Outrageous scene. 45min delay to get into departures. Pandemonium. Security queues longer than u can imagine. Two flights at the same gate. Absolutely shocking scenes. No security staff present. Delayed flights. Someone needs to sort this mess out.”
