Former Liverpool striker Dirk Kuyt has told Cody Gakpo he hopes the number 18 shirt will bring him "lots of magic" after completing his move to Anfield on Wednesday night.
The Reds beat Manchester United to the signing of the Netherlands star in a deal worth around £40m on Wednesday evening.
Gakpo 's compatriot, Kuyt, wore the number 18 shirt at Liverpool for six years before leaving the club for Fenebahce in 2012.

Kuyt, who had a 10 year career with the Netherlands, making 104 appearances and scoring 24 times, took to social media to wish Gakpo luck at his new home.
"Cody Gakpo, welcome to Liverpool," Kuyt said on Twitter. "This number has brought me lots of magic, and I hope it will bring you the same kinda magic too. Congratulations and good luck."
Jurgen Klopp confirmed that Gakpo is most likely going to make his debut for Liverpool in the FA Cup match against Wolves, but didn't rule him out of Monday's Premier League clash at Brentford.
