Darwin Nunez sends three-word message after four-goal haul in Liverpool win over RB Leipzig

A weight has been lifted from the shoulders of Darwin Nunez after his impressive display in Liverpool's comprehensive win over RB Leipzig.

The Uruguayan forward has bizarrely came in for criticism from rival supporters on social media after failing to find the back of the net in the Reds' opening two pre-season fixtures against Manchester United and Crystal Palace. His detractors, however, are now backtracking on early assumptions made.

Nunez issued the ultimate response to his doubters at the Red Bull Arena on Wednesday night as he sent out a warning to those who had doubted his ability to perform courtesy of a four-goal haul.

The 23-year-old opened his goalscoring account for the club courtesy of a penalty early in the second half, which was followed up a further three well-taken strikes to boost the confidence of the Reds' new recruit and the team as a collective.

Reacting to his stunning display on social media, Nunez tweeted: 'What a night.' Jurgen Klopp could certainly relate to these three words as he paid tribute to the former Benfica man at the full-time whistle. The Reds boss said : "We always think that if you pay a lot of money then the players feel no pressure or whatever. They are all completely normal human beings and the first touch is not perfect then all of a sudden.

"This generation of players read social media, which is really not smart, but they do. All of a sudden you get in a rush and these kinds of things. That’s the best way obviously to stop all these discussions. He’s a different striker to what we have or what we had, but he’s a really good one."
