Daniels' Hawks soar to double-OT success in Philly

Dyson Daniels has once again been in the thick of the action to help Atlanta secure big back-to-back wins in the NBA.

Two nights after downing Cleveland at home, the Hawks came away with a 142-134 double-overtime triumph in Philadelphia against another Eastern Conference rival.

Daniels, the 22-year-old Boomers guard, tallied 17 points, on 8-of-14 shooting, nine rebounds and eight assists on Sunday night (Monday AEDT).

Jalen Johnson hit consecutive three-pointers late in the second period of OT and finished with a career-high 41 points and 14 boards to spoil Joel Embiid's return.

Embiid scored 18 points in 30 minutes for the 76ers after he missed nine games because of injuries.

Tyrese Maxey had 44 points for the home side and hit a pair of clutch shots, including one that forced overtime.

Nickeil Alexander-Walker (34 points, eight rebounds, seven  assists) provided stern support for Johnson, while the "Great Barrier Thief'' also contributed two steals in close to 45 minutes of court time.

Fellow Australian Tyrese Proctor, meantime, was on the wrong side of a tight scoreboard.

The 21-year-old Sydneysider and 49th overall pick in the 2025 draft contributed eight points, one rebound and four assists in Cleveland's 117-115 home defeat to Boston.

The Celtics were led by a season-high 42 points from Payton Pritchard, who sank 6-of-11 from three-point territory, while Evan Mobley had a double-double (27 points, 14 rebounds) for the Cavaliers.

Boston led by 21 points in the third quarter and were still up by 11 with less than two minutes remaining, before Cleveland's Donovan Mitchell (18 points) made consecutive triples to pull the Cavs within 114-112 with 20.5 seconds left.

The NBA-leading Oklahoma City Thunder made it 12 straight wins with a 123-115 victory at Portland, despite Deni Avdija's triple-double (31 points, 19 rebounds, 10 assists).

OKC become just the fourth team in NBA history to start 20-1, their only loss coming against the Trail Blazers on November 5.

Elsewhere, Houston beat Utah 129-101, New York handed Toronto a 116-94 hammering, while Minnesota defeated San Antonio 125-112.
