Geelong captain Patrick Dangerfield will return from his hamstring injury for their big AFL home clash against Gold Coast.

Former Sun Jack Martin will also make his Cats debut.

Dangerfield has been sidelined since the round-10 win over Port Adelaide.

Martin, who joined Geelong as a free agent in the off-season, has not played since round 22 last season because of injury.

The Cats, who are fifth, left out Ollie Henry (managed) and Ted Clohesy, while the fourth-placed Suns recalled Ethan Read for Ned Moyle.

While GWS great Callan Ward's serious knee injury means he is among three outs for Saturday's game against Port Adelaide in Canberra, the Giants have regained forward Brent Daniels.

He has been sidelined for two months with a rare abdominal injury.

GWS also named ruckman Nick Madden for his AFL debut and recalled Jacob Wehr, with Kieren Briggs (injured) and Cody Angove the other omissions.

Port recalled Josh Sinn, Esava Ratugolea and Kane Farrel from injury for Logan Evans, Ollie Lord and Rory Atkins.

Slumping Sydney made five changes for Saturday's must-win game against Richmond at the MCG, with captain Callum Mills returning from suspension and Harry Cunningham also back.

Sam Wicks, Tom Hanily and Aaron Francis were the other inclusions as Peter Ladhams (injured), Matt Roberts (ill), Caleb Mitchell, Joel Hamling and Caiden Cleary were left out.

The Tigers recalled Noah Balta for Campbell Gray.

The Crows will regain Rory Laird and the Brisbane Lions' Ty Gallop will make his AFL debut in Friday night's Adelaide Oval blockbuster.

Carlton's Zac Williams and Essendon onballer Darcy Parish are in the squads for Sunday night's game, while the Collingwood and Melbourne team for Monday's blockbuster will be announced on Sunday.
