Cristiano Ronaldo pays girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez eye-watering £80k-a-month 'salary'

Manchester United and Portugal star Cristiano Ronaldo pays his partner Georgina Rodriguez north of £80,000 per month for a variety of responsibilities, according to reports on the continent.

Rodriguez, who is the subject of a new documentary entitled "I Am Georgina," has previously spoken about the challenges of adapting to life with her world-famous boyfriend. The pair have been together since 2017, and have a child together with twins on the way.

The veteran forward is one of the best-paid players in world football, having signed a bumper deal when he returned to United in Old Trafford. However, while Rodriguez has given Ronaldo substantial gifts herself - including a £150,000 car - the monthly salary catches the eye.

According to Catalan publication El Nacional, the €100,000 (£83,000) sum relates to "expenses and care of the children". The couple had their first child together in late 2017, a daughter named Alana, while Ronaldo has older children from surrogates.

Rodriguez has also become a step-mother to Ronaldo's older children, Cristiano Jr, Eva and Mateo. Cristiano Jr is part of Manchester United's academy, recently scoring in the same match as Wayne Rooney's son Kai, and has been cheered on by Rodriguez on at least one occasion.

"Our hearts are full of love - we can’t wait to meet you," the footballer wrote on social media when announcing the latest pregnancy. He will become a father of six when the twins are born.

Ronaldo agreed a big-money deal with United when he returned to the club in 2021 after 12 years away with Real Madrid and Juventus. According to L'Equipe, he makes a huge £2.2m per month - more than any other player in the Premier League and one of four Man Utd players in the top five of the league's highest earners list.

Since coming back to England, the 37-year-old has top scored for his club - both domestically and across all competitions. His 12 Premier League goals are three more than the next-closest Man Utd player, while he also delivered six goals in seven Champions League outings to help his team reach the last 16 of the competition.

Still, despite Ronaldo's goals, Ralf Rangnick's team are almost certain to finish lower than they did last season after starting slowly under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and failing to significantly recover under their interim boss. With eight games of the season remaining, last season's runners-up are 21 points adrift of the top two and three points shy of Champions League qualification, having ended the last gameweek down in seventh place after dropping points at home to Leicester City.
