Cristiano Ronaldo 'offered escape route' and more Manchester United transfer rumours

Cristiano Ronaldo is being linked with a move to MLS club Inter Miami as the striker looks for a way out of Manchester United.

As per the Daily Star, Inter Miami - owned by former Reds star David Beckham - are willing to pay the Portugal international a £30million annually salary in order to convince him to move to the United States. It comes after the club's big-name striker Gonzalo Higuain announced last week that he is retiring.

The report states that United would need to be willing to allow Ronaldo to leave for free for the move to materialise. It is thought that this could be a stumbling block in January as the United hierarchy are keen to receive a fee for the 37-year-old, rather than lose him for nothing. United are reportedly looking to pocket at least £15m for the veteran striker.

Elsewhere, the Reds are reportedly set to lose out on the signature of Cody Gakpo, with rivals Leeds United now set to make a move for the Dutchman. The Reds were understood to be close to signing the attacker in the summer transfer window.

According to the Mirror, the Whites have agreed personal terms with the PSV forward, and are now in talks with the Eredivisie club over their £30m valuation.

It is thought that PSV are keen to cash in on Gakpo after being knocked out of the Champions League by Rangers earlier in the season. The forward has not allowed his failed summer move to impact his form and has already scored 12 goals in 15 appearances for his club this season.
