The door is open for Simon Goodwin to continue his coaching career at GWS, says Adam Kingsley.
Goodwin has been heavily linked with the Giants since the 2021 premiership coach was sacked by Melbourne last week, given wife Kristine works in Sydney.
GWS coach Kingsley says he hasn't spoken to Goodwin but is interested in luring the 48-year-old over.
"If there's an opportunity to get a premiership coach to our footy club, then we'll certainly explore all avenues to do that," Kingsley said on Thursday.
"He's proven, being a senior coach for nine or 10 years. A long-time assistant prior to that. Wealth of knowledge, different system, successful.
"Whilst probably in the short term or in the immediate term we don't have a role, there's certainly nothing ruling out that we create something for someone of that quality to come to our footy club."
West Coast coach Andrew McQualter has also flirted with the idea of bringing over Goodwin after announcing the departure of long-time assistant Luke Webster.
McQualter was an assistant under Goodwin at the Demons last year before landing his role at the Eagles.
Goodwin said he was set on continuing his career, but only after time spent away from the game.
"I've spent some time up in Sydney and I'm going to catch up with a whole range of different people," Goodwin told Fox Footy's AFL 360.
"I'm open-minded to doing anything in football. I love the game, I love coaching.
"I want to get away, have a spell, relax, do some PD (personal development) (but) coaching's never complete, you want to get better.
"And I know with the experience and everything that I've gone through, with some PD, I'm going to come back even better."
"I'll speak to any club that is in the process of trying to build a premiership team and think that I can add some value."
Unlike McQualter, Kingsley has not worked closely in the coaches' box with Goodwin before.
Kingsley quipped he has only crossed paths with two-time Adelaide premiership player Goodwin on the field.
"I played against him in a few Showdowns a long, long time ago, but that's about it," former Port Adelaide player Kingsley said.
