Colts vs. Rams: Staff picks and predictions for Week 4

The Indianapolis Colts (2-1) are set to host the Los Angeles Rams (1-2) at Lucas Oil Stadium on Sunday.

The sportsbooks have the Colts sitting as one-point home favorites, and the experts around the league are relatively split on how this competitive matchup will unfold.

Here’s how the Colts Wire staff sees this Week 4 matchup shaking out:

I expect this game to be close throughout and essentially come down to the wire. The Colts have been competitive all season, and now they see the return of rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson. Some injuries to the offensive line will provide some issues going up against Aaron Donald, but the upside Richardson brings as a dual-threat quarterback gives the offense a boost.

The Rams have been playing better than their record suggests, and it will be interesting to see how the Colts’ zone-heavy defense works against Matthew Stafford and rookie Puka Nacua.

Despite being without his starting center and left tackle, the fact that Richardson got a full week of practice in will help his chances of having a strong game. It comes down to the wire in the fourth quarter, but Matt Gay seals the win with a late field goal attempt.

The Indianapolis Colts find themselves in a close battle with the Los Angeles Rams. The offense starts off out of sync in Anthony Richardson’s return but are able to get the run game going from AR’s legs and Zack Moss popping off some chunk gains.

The Indy defense does a solid job at keeping Matthew Stafford from getting in a flow. Samson Ebukam and Kwity Paye combine for a few sacks that help keep the LA offense out of the endzone.

This comes down to the final minutes but Matt Gay gets his revenge game against his former team by nailing the game-winning field goal for the second game in a row.

While the Colts have injuries to key pieces on the offensive line, I think they still have the superior roster. If Indy can find a way to limit the impact of Aaron Donald, I foresee them controlling the line of scrimmage. I also see them making life difficult for Matthew Stafford all day long.
