CNN anchor Kasie Hunt gives birth on her bathroom floor after 13-MINUTE labour

CNN anchor Kasie Hunt may be used to delivering breaking news on a daily basis but the birth of her second child certainly caught her by surprise.

Kasie, 37, became a mother for the second time when she welcomed baby girl Grey Hunt Rivera on March 1.

She and husband Matt Mario Rivera had planned a C-section delivery but all those thoughts went out of the window after Kasie was in labour for only 13 minutes before her newborn child made her sudden arrival.

Kasie shared three intimate photos of the birth to her 98,500 Instagram followers on Friday, with the first capturing the news presenter sitting on the bathroom floor with Grey in her arms as a member from emergency services tries to assist.

The second image shows a beaming Kasie and a caring Matt cradling Grey in a bed at Sibley Hospital in Washington, D.C. before the youngest member of the family got to meet her big brother Mars for the first time in the sweet close-up snap of the interaction.

Kasie wrote: "WELCOMING HERSELF TO THE WORLD: My husband @mattmrivera & I are thrilled to introduce our daughter, Grey Hunt Rivera—though really, she introduced herself.

"Grey was delivered by dad on the bathroom floor after 13 minutes of labor, before we even had time to dial 911, and 24 hours before she was scheduled to arrive via C section.

"We are so thankful for the @dcfireandems team who talked us through the incredibly intense moments before she took her first breaths, and who arrived within minutes to bring mom and baby safely to the hospital.

"Big brother Mars could not be more proud, and we couldn’t be more excited for life as a family of four."

Kasie, who announced her pregnancy to People back in December, telling the news outlet that her daughter's arrival was already a sign of "her independent streak".

She added: "We're so excited about life as a family of four — and reminded it's going to be that much more unpredictable!"

Matt, an NBC News producer, and Kasie got married on May 6, 2017 at Shenandoah Woods in Stanley, Virginia before the couple welcomed their first child, Mars, in September 2019.

In October 2021, she underwent a four-hour surgery to successfully remove a benign brain tumour.

On the one year anniversary of the procedure, the news anchor wrote on Twitter : "Today marks one year since my brain surgery @PennMedicine to remove a brain tumor.

"Today I am humbled to be able to say I am completely healthy and can physically live my life as though it never happened. But I can’t lead my life like it never did. I have learned so much."
