Chelsea 'open negotiations' over Christian Pulisic transfer after Todd Boehly £400m decision

Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic has again been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge in the January transfer window with claims AC Milan have opened negotiations to sign the USA international.

Pulisic, who joined Chelsea from Borussia Dortmund in 2019, is currently injured after picking up a knee problem in the Premier League defeat to Manchester City earlier this month. The 24-year-old has made 21 appearances for Chelsea this season but only eight of those have come as a starter.

There is plenty of competition for places going forward when Graham Potter has a fully fit squad to choose from with Mykhaylo Mudryk, Raheem Sterling, Hakim Ziyech, Noni Madueke, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Joao Felix at the manager's disposal. Mudryk joined the Blues for an initial fee of £62million - with a further £26m to come with add-ons - this month and Madueke signed for a fee of £28.5m while Felix was recruited on loan until the end of the season. Those additions took Chelsea's spending under Todd Boehly this season to over £400m.

Those signings have led to further uncertainty over Pulisic's future at Stamford Bridge and according to MARCA, AC Milan have already started talks to sign him in January. According to the publication, Chelsea are willing to part ways with Pulisic hence the arrivals of Mudryk and Madueke on long-term contracts.

Calciomercato in Italy believe that Milan and Chelsea will discuss Pulisic's future this week with a view to a potential deal. The player will have 12 months remaining on his deal when the summer comes around.

Other reports have suggested that Manchester United, Arsenal and Newcastle United could also offer a way out for the Pennsylvania-born talent.
