Unveiled at EICMA last November, the 1000MT-X from CFMoto will be sold in the US as a 2027 Ibex 950 alongside its Ibex-branded brethren, the 450 and 800E. If you’re having a little de-ja-vu, don’t be alarmed, the Ibex 950 shares a lot of DNA with the KTM 890 Adventure R, thanks to CFMOTO’s partnership with the Austrian manufacturer.
The trellis-style frame of the Ibex 950 is nearly identical to that of the KTM 890, however, a new rear subframe separates the two models, along with the motor, which CFMoto based on KTM’s LC8c 990 powerplant currently available in the 2026 KTM 990 Duke.
The 946cc parallel-twin in the Ibex 950 is said to make just north of 100 hp at 8,500 rpm, along with 77 lb-ft of torque at 6,250 rpm, which is a more off-road-friendly tune than the one employed on the 990 Duke’s motor (123 hp at 9,500 rpm). The new Ibex 950 also utilizes the low-slung fuel tank form found on the KTM 890, which keeps the center of gravity closer to the ground.

Additionally, the 2027 Ibex 950 will be outfitted with adjustable KYB suspension front and rear, a BOSCH traction control and ABS system, Brembo brakes, an 8-inch curved TFT display, and will tip the scales at a claimed 489.4 lbs without fuel or fluids.
And while the similarities between the Ibex 950 and KTM 890 come as no surprise given the relationship between the two brands, what is surprising is the announcement of this new model, effectively based on a yet-to-be-announced KTM 990 Adventure. Launching globally as the CFMoto 1000MT-X, this new model arrives before KTM has even pulled the sheets off of the much-anticipated 990 Adventure.
This is likely due to KTM’s financial struggles in the past 24 months, which has caused the Austrian brand to delay some product releases, like the 1390 Super Adventure S EVO which was originally slated for release in 2025 but will now hit showroom floors in 2027.
Although a KTM 990 Adventure is expected at some point, it looks like CFMoto will fill the void in the interim, offering adventure riders an alternative to the long-in-the-tooth KTM 890 Adventure model that made its debut in 2021.
The 2026 CFMoto 1000MT-X carries an MSRP of €10,490 ($12,350) in Europe, which is roughly $2000 more than the 2026 Ibex 800E ($10,299) that’s currently available in the US. That said, we expect the 2027 Ibex 950 to be priced similarly to the 1000MT-X, with an MSRP somewhere close to $12,000.
