Celtic winger Marco Tilio 'completes medical' ahead of £1.3m transfer exit

Marco Tilio is inching closer to completing his transfer exit from Celtic.

The 24-year-old Australian winger has completed a medical ahead of a proposed move to Rapid Vienna.

According to Sky Sports, the medical has been finalised with Tilio close to being unveiled as a new signing by the Austrian club.

Celtic are set to bank a £1.3m transfer fee for the player, who spent last season on loan at former club Melbourne City.

Tilio has reportedly agreed a four-year deal in Vienna.

Sporting director Markus Katzer previously revealed Rapid Vienna had tried to sign Tilio before he moved to Celtic in 2023.

He said: "There is interest. We’re monitoring things.

“We had interest in him before then Celtic signed him as well.

“We’re looking at players in his position and we’re certainly interested in him but that doesn’t mean it’s a done deal.”

Tilio had turned down the possibility of a third stint at Melbourne City in favour of trying again in European football with a switch to Rapid Vienna.

Melbourne City director of football Michael Petrillo said: "Marco has been a tremendous player for our Club - not just for what he’s produced on the pitch, but also for the way he’s conducted himself as a professional.

"He’s played a major role across two successful stints with City and we’ve all enjoyed watching him develop into one of the country’s brightest attacking talents.

"While we were keen to extend his stay and continued discussions with Celtic, we fully support Marco’s ambition to once again challenge himself in Europe.

"We thank him for everything he’s contributed to Melbourne City and wish him every  success in the next stage of his career."
