Celtic rival Benfica for exciting Premiership talent as Hoops 'launch' six-figure bid

The race for St Mirren kid Dylan Reid has kicked off with Celtic slapping in a six-figure bid, according to a report.

The Scottish Sun report that the Hoops have offered £125,000 for the highly-rated teen with a number of other clubs keeping tabs on his situation. Benfica are said to have lead interest from Europe while the Hoops' Old Firm rivals Rangers were linked with a move last week. The same report states that while the Light Blues have been keeping an eye on the youngster, they are not planning any offer to bring him in to Ibrox.

Buddies boss Stephen Robinson has told the teenager he will be part of his first-team plans in Paisley this season having broken through the youth system at the club. Celtic's offer is reportedly being considered with talks ongoing between the two sides.

Celtic are currently going through their pre-season paces in Austria and face Rapid Vienna later this afternoon.
