Carol Vorderman hits back at Tory peer's 'misogynistic' GB News rant about her

A TORY peer has been branded a “sexist” and a “misogynist” by Carol Vorderman after he suggested she could not be a political commentator because she posts images of going to the gym on Instagram.

Shaun Bailey, who held a party which saw 24 fines issued for breaking Covid rules during his failed bid to become London mayor, made the comment during an appearance on the right-wing broadcaster GB News.

Speaking about Vorderman, the Tory said: “On one hand she’s got all that stuff on Twitter, oh you know she’s a ‘serious political commentator’. Then if you look at her Instagram it’s all pictures of her bums and her boobs.

“So what is it? What is it here? She can’t be both.”

Journalist Ava Evans, who was also the target of a misogynistic attack from now-former GB News host Laurence Fox, shared a clip of Bailey’s comments.

She wrote: “Really exhausting to see this said about @carolvorders.

“It’s so easy to use your interview time to go for someone’s arguments, yet he can’t help himself but go for her body.”

Evans added that Bailey was a “former Tory mayoral candidate, who was photographed partying during lockdown”.

Responding, Vorderman accused the Conservative peer of being “sexist”.

“After Laurence Fox made disgusting comments about Ava Evans on @GBNEWS and was effectively suspended....

“Now we have #SexistShaun Tory Lord Shaun Bailey making more misogynistic remarks on guess where … yes GB NEWS … where else.”

Vorderman also highlighted that “#SexistShaun” was “trending at Number 1” on Twitter/X.

Broadcaster Jemma Forte’s attack on Bailey was also shared by Vorderman. She had written: “Tragic. In 2024 Shaun Bailey can’t comprehend @carolvorders having views but not wearing sack cloth.

“The man who partied during lockdown. You shouldn’t be a rule maker and rule breaker. YOU can’t be both @ShaunBaileyUK.”

Bailey was given a life peerage in the honours list of disgraced former prime minister Boris Johnson, who was also fined for breaching Covid lockdown laws.

He was appearing on GB News to discuss Vorderman after she clashed with Tory minister Johnny Mercer, who accused her of having a “sh** lonely life” after she highlighted a broken pledge he had made to end veteran homelessness.
