BT, EE, Plusnet, Sky, TalkTalk and Three customers issued 2 month warning by Martin Lewis

Broadband users with six big name providers have been issued a warning by financial whiz Martin Lewis - and with the cost of living at a record levels, it is particularly unwelcome news. The Money Saving Expert has alerted broadband users who are signed up with the likes of BT, EE, Plusnet, Sky, TalkTalk and Three that prices are set to rise.

According to reports, Martin has issued a warning to everyone who has broadband amid an upcoming price hike in April. The MoneySavingExpert founder has previously said that broadband prices could jump considerably. He warned of a 15% increase in internet bills.

Liverpool Echo reported the consumer champion as saying: "If they enact them this year, and the likelihood is they will, this could mean 15%-ish hikes this spring. This usually happens in April for most of the major broadband providers, which is going to be another hit for many people.

Explaining how this translates to bills, Martin said: "If you’re paying £40, that’s £6 a month extra. Even switchers’ deals will probably do this but of course, it’s £6 a month extra on £40 or if you pay £20 a month, it’s only £3 a month extra."

At the time, Martin told readers to compare their current deal and switch supplier if necessary. However, on a recent BBC podcast, Martin explained that BT, EE, Plusnet, Sky, TalkTalk and Three had all announced an April price increase. He said: "BT, EE and Plusnet will have a typical rise of 14.4 per cent in April on broadband and mobile."

Martin added that Sky customers would see a 9% rise, TalkTalk users on a non-fixed broadband tariff would see a 14.2% increase and Three broadband would rise by 4.5%, while mobile increases by 14.4%.
