Breaking down the Steelers picks in Mel Kiper’s new mock draft

ESPN NFL draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr. has a new two-round mock draft out and we wanted to take a look at the picks for the Pittsburgh Steelers. The draft hits three of the Steelers biggest needs but in a roundabout way. Let us know what you think.

First round - WR Zay Flowers, Boston College

Second round - OT Anton Harrison, Oklahoma

Second round - CB Julius Brents, Kansas State

Analysis

On paper, this mock draft is almost perfect. It fills three of the team’s top four needs and gives them three players who will impact the offense from day one. Does this mock take a hit because the top need went to a wide receiver? Ohio State offensive tackle Paris Johnson Jr. went two picks later and he’s definitely better than Anton Harrison so would Johnson and Jalin Hyatt in the second instead be better combination? A case could be made either way.
