Body of French bulldog found wrapped in bed cover dumped in Nottingham park

The body of a female French bulldog was found wrapped in a bed cover on a footpath near a café. Animal rescue charity RSPCA launched an appeal on Thursday, June 8, following the sad discovery in Woods Park, Nottingham.

The animal's body was found by a member of the public on Monday, May 29 near a public footpath behind a café at Colwick Woods Park. A member of the public contacted the RSPCA and inspector Keith Ellis attended.

The dog was a female tan and white French Bulldog, the charity said. She had been wrapped in a bed cover which was dark blue and had pink and light blue flowers.

This was inside a grey and white laundry bag. A shallow hole had been dug and the dog placed inside - but it was not deep enough and the body was still mostly above ground level.

There was no attempt to cover it, RSPCA said in a statement following the discovery. Inspector Ellis added: “While there were no obvious signs of injuries or cause of death of this poor dog I am keen to find out how her body came to be left at this location.

“She was microchipped - but her chip was registered to an Italian database and we have been unable to gain any further information at this stage. I am following up on a number of lines of enquiries and I would urge anyone with information which can help my investigation to call me in confidence on 0300 123 8018.”
