Bob Vylan’s US Visas Revoked Following Anti-Israel Glastonbury Festival Chant

British punk rap duo Bob Vylan have had their US visas revoked after they brutally slammed the Israel Defence Force (IDF) during their Glastonbury Festival set.

Over the weekend, Bob Vylan frontman, Bobby Vylan, took to the Glastonbury Festival stage, encouraging the audience to chant “free, free Palestine” before leading them to chant “death, death to the IDF”.

Shortly after the political stunt, the duo have been condemned, with Glastonbury Festival organisers stating that they were “appalled” by the performance

But now, it appears that the chant has landed the duo in hot water ahead of their US Tour.

In a statement to X (formerly Twitter), US Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau confirmed that the US has revoked Bob Vylan’s visas for their “hateful tirade” at the UK music festival.

“The @StateDept has revoked the US visas for the members of the Bob Vylan band in light of their hateful tirade at Glastonbury, including leading the crowd in death chants,” Landau wrote.

Landau’s statement comes after the Avon and Somerset Police said it would be opening a criminal investigation into Bob Vylan’s Glastonbury set, as well as Kneecap’s — an Irish rap trio — performance.

“Video footage and audio from Bob Vylan and Kneecap’s performances at Glastonbury Festival on Saturday has been reviewed,” police said.

“Following the completion of that assessment process, we have decided further enquiries are required and a criminal investigation is now being undertaken.

“The investigation will be evidence-led and will closely consider all appropriate legislation, including relating to hate crimes. We have received a large amount of contacts in relation to these events from people across the world and recognise the strength of public feeling.

“There is absolutely no place in society for hate.”

BBC calls Bob Vylan’s chant “unacceptable”

BBC, which livestreams Glastonbury Festival, slammed Bob Vylan’s chant against the IDF, stating that it has “no place on our airwaves”.

“The BBC respects freedom of expression but stands firmly against incitement to violence,” a BBC spokesperson shared, adding the network “regrets” not pulling “the stream during the performance”.

“The antisemitic sentiments expressed by Bob Vylan were utterly unacceptable and have no place on our airwaves.

“In addition, we took the decision not to make the performance available on demand. The team were dealing with a live situation, but with hindsight, we should have pulled the stream during the performance. We regret this did not happen.”

Bob Vylan responds to the backlash

On Sunday, Bobby shared a lengthy Instagram statement, highlighting the importance of speaking up.

“I said what I said,” Bobby captioned the post.

“Teaching our children to speak up for the change they want and need is the only way that we make this world a better place,” Bobby wrote in the statement.

“As we grow older and our fire possibly starts to dim under the suffocation of adult life and its responsibilities, it is incredibly important that we encourage and inspire future generations to pick up the torch that was passed to us.

“Let us display to them loudly and visibly the right things to do when we want and need change. Let them see us marching in the streets, campaigning on ground level, organising online and shouting about it on any and every stage that we are offered.

“Today it is a change in school dinners, tomorrow is a change in foreign policy.”

Australian band Amyl & The Sniffers also took aim at the UK and Australian governments during their set at Glastonbury 2025.

“I’m thinking about the people in Palestine. We’re from Australia, we ain’t doing jack shit, I know yours aren’t doing jack shit. I think about schooling and I think about media, and I think we don’t learn nothing about colonisation or sexual education, we don’t learn any of the right things,” lead singer Amy Taylor roared.

“They want us to shut the fuck up, because if we think about Palestine, then back home in Australia, we think about the Indigenous people there. And we think about the fact that us as whiteys, we’re the fucking colonisers, and that’s disgusting.”

After their set, Taylor backed Bob Vylan and Kneecap for their Glastonbury performances in an Instagram Story.
