BJP's work continues even without elections: Goa CM Pramod Sawant

PANAJI: Chief minister Pramod Sawant on Saturday said BJP will continue to work in Goa to ensure that benefits of all schemes reach the needful. The party is working for social upliftment and not only during elections, he said.

"Not just to construct a house, but even someone purchasing a flat can get Rs 2.5 lakh from the government under the Pradhan Mantri Aawas Yojana," Sawant said, adding that the efforts have continued by the party in the state despite there being no upcoming elections.

"There is no election now for another year. We are celebrating Garib Kalyan Utsav not for elections, but for people to know the schemes from which they can benefit. We want that people come forward to ask whether they are eligible for benefits under any government schemes. Not only SC, ST, OBC, those who do not fall under these categories can see if they fall under the economically weaker sections and are eligible for those schemes," he added.

He was speaking at the Garib Kalyan Sammelan at Socorro panchayat.
