CHANDIGARH: Mocking Bhagwant Mann for using his photograph on Aam Aadmi Clinics, Punjab Congress reminded him of his promise that no government offices will have chief minister’s photos.
Accusing Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann of desperately craving self-publicity, leader of the opposition (LoP) Partap Singh Bajwa said Mann should not have used his own images at the health centres that the Aam Aadmi Party government had recently renamed after its party. Bajwa said CM Mann, in various speeches delivered before the assembly elections, vowed that he would not use his own pictures.
"There has been a huge difference between what Bhagwant Mann used to preach when he was not in power and what has been practising since he became CM. He used to mock former Punjab CM Parkash Singh Badal for his pictures on 108 ambulances. He made fun of former CMs Amarinder Singh and Charanjit Singh Channi for having their images on billboards. Meanwhile, he has his own pictures everywhere. What does he have to say now?" LoP asked.
Bajwa said they could have used the images of Bhagat Singh and Dr B R Ambedkar instead, as the AAP claimed that it admired them the most. In reality, the party seems to have no respect for these two national heroes. AAP befooled the people of Punjab by misusing the names of Bhagat Singh and Dr B R Ambedkar for garnering votes only.
LoP said it is unjustified to rename several health centres after Aam Aadmi Party’s name. No political party previously has named any public property after its party. It should be removed with immediate effects. Qdian Legislator also condemned the AAP for declaring the five health centres in Amritsar that were established in the name Panj Piaras as Aam Aadmi Clinic.
"This has been apparently the most idiotic move of AAP," he said.
