Best supplement bundles for targeted nutrition

Supplement bundles are the wellness shortcut we didn’t know we needed.

Life can get busy. It’s not always possible to ensure you are having a balanced diet, especially if you’re always on the go. Which is why supplementation has become integral to ensure we are getting all the nutrients and minerals that we need.

But move aside single capsules, bundles are having a moment.

Curated bumper selections, these clever combinations are transforming the way we approach our health. They have been preselected by experts to work together, all in one purse friendly pack. In an era where we are drowning in choice, the best decision is always the simplest.

“Supplement bundles can offer convenience and potentially better value for patients who have identified specific nutritional gaps in their diet or have particular health goals”, explains Dr Suzanne Wylie, GP and medical adviser for IQdoctor. “Rather than purchasing individual supplements separately, bundles are formulated to provide complementary nutrients that work synergistically together. However, it's important to emphasise that a balanced diet should always be the foundation of good nutrition, and supplements should never replace proper meals”.

Supplementation is not for everyone, however. Dr Wylie breaks it down, “Those with diagnosed deficiencies, such as vitamin D deficiency which is common in the UK due to limited sunlight exposure, might benefit from targeted supplementation”. She also highlights, “Vegetarians and vegans often require B12, iron, and omega 3 supplements”, while “Older adults may need additional vitamin D and calcium for bone health”. You will also benefit if you are expecting, “Pregnant women require folic acid and often iron”. With all the above in mind, Dr Wylie recommend always “consulting with a healthcare professional before starting any supplement regimen, as unnecessary supplementation can sometimes cause harm or interact with medications”.

The expert flags that these bundles will be especially beneficial for athletes. “For those engaged in regular intense physical activity, including gym goers and athletes, there may be increased nutritional demands that are difficult to meet through diet alone. The increased metabolic stress from exercise can elevate requirements for certain vitamins and minerals involved in energy production, muscle recovery, and immune function. B vitamins are crucial for energy metabolism, whilst antioxidants like vitamin C and E may help manage exercise induced oxidative stress. Magnesium supports muscle function and recovery, and adequate protein intake is essential for muscle protein synthesis”.

But what combinations should you look out for? Leaning on the medical adviser’s expertise, if you’re consuming protein shakes, “Creatine is well evidenced for improving high intensity exercise performance and pairs excellently with protein for muscle building. Branched chain amino acids, particularly leucine, can enhance the muscle building effects of protein. Carbohydrates, when taken with protein post exercise, can improve glycogen replenishment and protein synthesis. Vitamin D supports muscle function and bone health, making it a sensible addition”. And lastly, “Magnesium aids in protein synthesis and muscle recovery, whilst zinc is involved in protein metabolism and immune function”.

It is worth stressing however that not all supplements, or supplement bundles, are created equal. Dr Wylie stresses this point, “Supplement bundles are not magic bullets, and the supplement industry is largely unregulated compared to pharmaceuticals. Quality can vary significantly between manufacturers, and some products may contain contaminants or not contain the stated amounts of active ingredients. Many people can meet their nutritional needs through a varied, balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats. Before investing in expensive supplement bundles, I'd recommend having blood tests to identify any actual deficiencies and discussing your individual needs with a healthcare provider who can provide personalised advice based on your medical history, current health status, and lifestyle factors”.

That being said, as we juggle work, life and everything in between, bundles are a hassle-free, conveinent way to supplement - and have more economic value. Shop the best below.

Nourished personalised vitamin stack subscription

All-in-one multivitamins are so last century. These personalised vitamin stacks are the latest, hi-tech way to get all the nutrients you need, without needlessly gulping down the ones you don’t. If you’re looking for one tablet to suit all ills, these 3D-printed stacks won’t fit the bill but they are perfect if you want a supplement designed for your unique needs, according to your diet, deficiencies and individual goals.

Before ordering, you fill in an easy quiz to work out exactly what will be in your stack. This covers how well you’re sleeping, how much exercise you do, how often you travel abroad, whether you wear glasses and if you suffer from a range of complaints including depression, IBS and low libido. You’ll also select your top two priorities, whether that’s to lose weight, manage stress better or delay ageing. A box of personalised vitamin stacks arrives in the post soon after and will be delivered every 28 days if you take out a subscription.

Each one is vegan and sugar-free and includes a combination of seven nutrients, selected to best suit your needs. Ours included the unusual Scutell-Up to help relieve stress and regulate sleep, vegan Vitamin D3 to boost natural immunity and support muscle function and Vitamin B12 (Cyanocobalamin) to increase energy levels.

The chewy strawberry-flavoured gummy was a delight to eat too, so we actually looked forward to taking it every day and really did feel noticeably calmer and less tired almost immediately. We’d take them year-round if we could afford it.
