Bebe Rexha reveals devastating pregnancy loss as she slams Met Gala bodyshamers

Bebe Rexha has made a devastating admission as she hit back at online trolls who criticised her appearance at this year’s Met Gala.

The US singer, 35, made her debut at the annually held New York event on Monday and seemed confident as she posed for snappers on the blue carpet.

This year’s theme was Superfine: Tailoring Black Style, with the Me, Myself & I hit-maker opting for a Christian Siriano black coat and tulle skirt paired with fishnet gloves.

Talk on social media soon turned toxic however with a number of people using their chosen platforms to discuss the star’s weight.

Among them was controversial rapper Azealia Banks, who wrote on X, formerly Twitter: “Sis gives me – hormonal birth control implant or something.”

Seeming fed up with all of the negative chatter, Rexha eventually responded: "I’m so tired of people commenting on my weight.

“I have PCOS and struggle with infertility. I got pregnant, and it didn’t work out and I’ve been carrying that pain in silence.

“I never owed anyone that truth, but maybe now you’ll think twice before commenting on any anyone’s body,” she added in a since-deleted post.

Rexha gave no further details on when she suffered the pregnancy loss or with whom she was expecting a child. She was most recently romantically linked to Greek architect Simos Liakos last year.

She then turned her attention to Banks’ remark by resharing her original comment and firing back: “And you might wanna jump on some type of therapy, sis, lexapro worked great for me. something that helps with the deep-rooted sadness and chaos you keep projecting. Healing looks good on everyone. Try it.”

Rexhas has spoken openly about her struggles with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) after first being diagnosed in 2023.

PCOS is a condition which occurs when the ovaries produce too much of the male sex hormones and can cause heavy periods, weight gain, acne and excess hair growth.

Speaking on the weight gain aspect at the time, she admitted she was struggling as she noted that “humans go through fluctuations”.

“Not gonna lie it does suck and bother me when I read some comments, but it comes with the territory,” she penned.

“I’ve been learning not to judge myself and accept myself while also trying to make healthier decisions in my life. What I have learned though is numbers don’t define you, your heart does.”
