Arsenal handed Neymar transfer ultimatum as Edu has bid for dream Ben White backup rejected

Your morning Arsenal transfer round-up on Friday, May 26.

Bid rejected

Mikel Arteta seems intent on further bolstering his options at right-back this summer despite the impressive performances of Ben White. Having faced plenty of criticism in his debut season for Arsenal, the 25-year-old defender has since become a stalwart in the club's backline.

According to Nevzat Dindar, Arsenal have submitted a €17million (£14.7million) bid to Galatasaray for Sacha Boey. The 22-year-old defender faces an increasingly uncertain future with the Turkish giants after publicly announcing his desire to leave last month.

The report states that Galatasaray are expected to hold out for €25million (£21.7million) and they're unwilling to let Boey leave for anything less. It's said that the Turkish outfit's vice-president, Erden Timur, travelled to London earlier this week to discuss a potential deal for the Frenchman.

Rice race

According to the Daily Mail, Manchester United have officially joined the race to sign Rice, with a bidding war potentially on the horizon - something which West Ham hoped would happen. It is claimed that Arsenal, who are most advanced in their interest of the England international, are likely to open talks with the Hammers regarding a £90million deal for Rice.

However, this is said to have fallen more than £10million short of West Ham's valuation of the player. Transfer expert Ben Jacobs has suggested that the Hammers may need to settle for less than their asking price though.

"With Declan Rice, a lot of the prep is being done internally at Arsenal as they start to understand what they may need to get Rice and what is more gamesmanship on the West Ham side," he told Give Me Sport.

Mount or Neymar?

With Mikel Arteta in the market for a new midfielder, Darren Bent has insisted that he would rather Arsenal sign Mason Mount than Neymar. Speaking on talkSPORT, the former Tottenham and Aston Villa striker said: "I think [Mount] gets into any top team squad.

"I’m not saying he’s going to start, I don’t think he does. But at a better price – I’m not paying £80million for no player with one year left on their contract, especially when this season they’ve got three goals and two assists."

Andy Goldstein, Bent's co-host, then posed a question. He said: "For argument’s sake, I know they’re different players, I get that, but from a superstar perspective and players that could come in and ruin the great camaraderie you’ve got in the dressing room, I’d rather have Mason Mount coming into my dressing room than Neymar."

To which Bent replied: "I 100% totally agree with that. Even though Neymar is the better player, Mason Mount would be the better fit in and around the dressing room. He never gives you any problems, you know exactly what you’re getting."
