Arsenal and Liverpool get Yan Diomande update after transfer U-turn and surprise Real Madrid £85.4m bid

Yan Diomande is now open to joining Real Madrid this summer, performing a transfer U-turn in the process.

Interest in Diomande is high following an impressive World Cup which was on the back of a standout season for RB Leipzig where he scored 13 goals and registered ten assists in 36 appearances across all competitions.

A switch to Liverpool - replacing club legend Mohamed Salah - was touted prior to World Cup 2026, but the Reds, reportedly, saw an €100million (£85.5m) bid rejected by the Bundesliga side.

In addition, it was revealed that Diomande’s preference was to join Paris Saint-Germain if he was to leave Germany this summer, citing the project in France and desire to develop under Luis Enrique.

Despite claims of an agreement in place with PSG and the Ivory Coast international over personal terms, the reigning European champions are yet to make a formal bid of €120million (£102m) to meet Leipzig's valuation of the 19-year-old.

As such, it has provided hope to Liverpool as well as Arsenal and Manchester City, who have reportedly joined the race in recent weeks.

However, it’s Real Madrid who have made their move. On Friday, it was reported that the LaLiga giants had lodged a surprise €100m (£85.4m) bid for Diomande.

While the offer was rejected, journalist Fabrizio Romano has reported Real Madrid are expected return with new bid after being given the green light from Diomande following positive talks over contract terms.

Jose Mourinho, back at the Santiago Bernabeu for a second spell as Los Blancos boss, has already bolstered his squad with the signings of Marc Cucurella, Ibrahima Konate, Denzel Dumfries and Bernardo Silva.

Now it would appear Mourinho is seeking to address his attacking options.

Diomande is capable of operating on either flanks, meaning he could provide competition as well as playing alongside Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr if a move to Real Madrid does materialise.
