Apparently The Tension Among The Block Cast Was ‘Impossible To Miss’ At A Recent Event

The Block cast

The Block 2025 may be long over, but the drama is raging on with the group chat divided and some contestants refusing to acknowledge each other — and apparently the chaos spilled out into a public event the other day.

Certain members of the cast recently attended Melbourne’s Spring Racing Carnival and onlookers were quick to notice that alliances have been made brutally clear.

Resident peacekeepers Mat and Robby, affectionately labelled the “Switzerland Boys” for spending the entire season floating between feuding teams like two tradie-shaped UN delegates, appear to have finally chosen their allegiance… and it’s not going down well with the rest of the cast.

Insiders have claimed that the lads were glued — and we mean glued — to auction winners Alicia and Sonny at the horse brutality event, making their new alliance loud and proud in the Birdcage.

“It was impossible to miss,” one witness told PEDESTRIAN.TV. “They barely left Alicia and Sonny’s side. After months of keeping the peace, they’ve clearly chosen their people.”

Peacekeeping? Dead. Rivalry? Alive and thriving.

If you missed the internal The Block politics this year, here’s the TL;DR: Ben and Em and Britt and Taz sat on one side of the invisible site fence, while Han and Can teamed up with Alicia and Sonny on the other. Meanwhile, Mat and Robby floated around like two golden retrievers who didn’t want to upset anyone.

In fact, Mat and Robby were even recruited by producers to help restore peace among the groups when things got intense behind the scenes at the pointy end of the season, but apparently the post-show Kumbaya didn’t survive auction day.

A production insider told us the boys were “quietly disheartened” with how the finale played out and gravitated naturally toward the winners’ circle.

“There was always subtle tension,” the insider spilled. “Mat and Robby felt a little let down by how everything unfolded. But aligning with Alicia and Sonny makes sense now. That’s where they feel most supported.”

Fans have noticed the energy shift too. If you’re stalking their Instas (no judgement, we all do it), the signs are already there: Likes and comments all over Alicia and Sonny’s posts, radio silence on content from the other rooms, and a distinct “we’re still in this group chat, babes” vibe.

“People can read between the lines,” the insider added. “You can tell who’s still vibing and who’s muted the convo.”

It comes after a “tone-deaf” message from Britt and Taz apparently caused mass chaos in The Block 2025 contestant group chat.

“Not everyone’s come out on the same page,” an anonymous cast member shared with us. Apparently The Block group chat has now split into three smaller group chats as certain contestants refuse to speak to each other.

While some Blockheads have moved on to reno projects, sponsored posts, or whatever influencers do between partnerships, the rivalries clearly remain alive, just now served with champagne and fascinators instead of steel-capped boots.

“The drama never really ends,” another source laughs. “It’s just happening at Flemington instead of in a half-finished laundry.”

The tension was also palpable at the Nine Upfronts where the cast joined forces to promote the show in the lead-up to the finale.

While the group played nice-nice for the cameras, the behind the scenes beef became obvious on social media when Taz posted a bunch of snaps with his co-stars at the event alongside the caption: “Celebrating Nine with an elite crew”, but noticeably, Sonny and Alicia were left out of the carousel.

A spy at the event told Yahoo Lifestyle: “Britt and Taz and Sonny and Alicia barely spent any time together at the event, so it will be interesting to see what their relationship is like at the auctions”. And we all know how that turned out…

Alicia and Sonny recently hinted at tension among the group in an interview with Chattr, revealing that they speak to some contestants, but not all.

“We speak to most people still. We were just with Em and Ben last week. So yeah, we still speak to pretty much everybody,” she said during a podcast interview on Confessions of a Reality Star, adding that Britt and Taz were the only team “not on the list”. Ouch!

Speaking on their beef, Britt shared the following icy words to Yahoo Lifestyle: “I think we’re all civil. We’re all adults at the end of the day, and we all understand we’re representing Channel Nine and we’re representing The Block.”

During the chat, Taz added that seeing how their co-stars spoke about them while watching the show has been a bitter pill to swallow, and it’s now “difficult to go back to how it was”.

“You’re hearing people talk about you behind your back, but stuff they alleged, ‘We’d say to your face’ was never said to our face,” he shared.

Drama or not, the contestants may soon need to face each other again as some stars have copped an invite to the Logies. Who has made the cut, I wonder? I suspect that will be another source of contention…
