TIRUPATI: Police booked cases against 26 Telugu Desam party activists including the party's constituency in-charge at Srikalahasti in Tirupati district on Sunday.
The Jaganasura Vadha protest programme recently organized by the TDP across Srikalahasti assembly constituency as part of a state call, led to a face-off between the local police and the TDP.
The TDP constituency in-charge Bojjala Sudheer Reddy alleged that the Srikalahasti rural circle inspector K Ajay Kumar behaved in a high handed manner with the TDP activists and even used foul language against many of them.
Accompanied by party activists, Bojjala Sudheer Reddy staged protests in front of the Srikalahasti rural police station and demanded action against the circle inspector.
Meanwhile, Srikalahasti rural CI told reporters that it was Bojjala Sudheer Reddy who used filthy language while talking to him over the phone. "Sudheer Reddy also threatened me by saying TDP will come to power in six months from now and then he would see my end", Ajay Kumar added.
Following a complaint lodged by the circle inspector himself against Bojjala Sudheer Reddy and 25 TDP activists, police booked cases against them under IPC sections 147, 506, 341, 353 r/w 149 and under the section 3 (1) (r) (S) of SC/ST POA Act-1989.
