TIRUPATI: Eight matka gamblers were arrested during two different raids carried out by the Anantapur district police wing of Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday.
In the first raid at Guntakal, three people — identified as Sheik Mahaboob Basha (49), O Parasuram (36) and Sheik Izaj Ahmed (42) — were arrested along with an organiser at Guntakal while police seized Rs 4.48 lakh cash, two mobile phones and other documentary evidence.
In the second raid at Gooty, four matka gamblers — identified as N Siva, N Purushotham, T Raghavendra and S Rajasekhar — were arrested by the police who also seized Rs 1.45 lakh cash and four mobile phones from the possession of the accused.
