American tourist has mind blown after trying Greggs sausage roll for first time

Greggs has found its newest fan in an American tourist, who has left people in stitches by documenting his very first experience of the Newcastle-founded bakery chain.

TikToker David Turek is originally from Chesapeake, Virginia in the US, and is currently studying in Merseyside. He has shared his experience of tucking into many British classics for the first time, from fish and chips to beans on toast - and a recent video showed him having his first nibble of a Greggs sausage roll.

His expression spoke volumes as he bit into the pastry, closing his eyes as the sheer Greggs bliss overcame him. Quickly polishing off the whole thing, David later admitted in the comments section: "I expected to like it, but it went far past my expectations."

The amusing clip has amassed over half a million views on TikTok - and has left some fans wistful that they could experience the flaky goodness for the first time all over again. "The idea of trying a Greggs sausage roll for the first time again is amazing," one viewer commented.

"Welcome to paradise my good sir," another person quipped. And others pointed out that the sausage roll was merely the tip of the iceberg in a whole new world of deliciousness.

"Go back to Greggs and try everything else," someone insisted, while others recommended favourites like the chicken bake, steak bake and sausage, bean and cheese melt.

For anyone fans who want the joy of tasting a Greggs for the first time, you can have your cake - or bake - and eat it, as earlier this month the chain launched 11 new menu items which are all available in the North East. The new additions include three different Crispy Chicken Ciabatta rolls, three new wraps, and new wedges.
