All The Best (And Funniest) Moments From The Las Culturistas Culture Awards

las-culturistas

A bunch of stars, legends, and icons just descended on a theatre in Los Angeles to celebrate Hollywood’s night of nights.

The Oscars, you ask? The Golden Globes? Heck, even the Logies?

Nope, it was the Las Culturistas Culture Awards, which aired in the US overnight and were was from the über-popular podcast of the same name hosted by Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers

This isn’t your typical awards show — it’s the Academy’s nicher, quirkier cousin, and this year, it brought together D-listers and A-listers for a night of chaos.

From actors Alison Janney and Jeff Goldblum to Andy Cohen, Meg Stalter, Joel Kim Booster, Quinta Brunson and The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City’s Lisa Barlow.

Yes, all those people were both in LA’s Orpheum Theater for the hilariously silly ceremony, which celebrates culture with categories like the Eva Longoria Award for Tiny Woman, Huge Impact and the Creatine Award for Straight Male Excellence.

Other joke categories include the Pop Crave Award for Excellence in Journalism, and Best Word to Whisper (the winner? “Never”).

Only at the Las Culturistas can high and low-brow gather with quite this level of pomp and deserved self-importance. There were plenty of talked-about moments, but here’s a list of our faves.

Lisa Rinna cosplays as Pedro Pascal and Demi Moore

PROTECT THE DOLLS! (Image: Bravo)

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Lisa Rinna won the Culture Award for Best Outfit, but before she collected the trophy, she modelled the other nominees during the ceremony. That included Pedro Pascal in his “Protect The Dolls” shirt, Demi Moore in her yellow jacket from The Substance and perhaps most hilariously, a Pretty Girl Getting Coffee in Sweats.

Andy Samberg wins for Straight Male Excellence

Andy Samberg took home the honour Straight Male Excellence. Naturally, he did so in a backwards cap, vest and the general overconfidence of a straight man.

Reneé Rapp presents the award for Excellence in Lesbianism

Singer Reneé Rapp took to the stage to accept the award for Power in Lesbianism, with hilarious quips about “fingers” and Shego from Kim Possible. I can’t make this up.

She took came out ahead of nominees like Ms. Honey from Matilda, the Carabiner and Probably your grandma even though she was married to your grandpa for fifty years. Feast in her acceptance speech above.

Kristen Wiig is unaware of where she is

Comedian Kristen Wiig appeared at the ceremony to present Janney with her Lifetime of Culture Award, but elsewhere in the ceremony, she collected the trophy for Best Batman Woman. Of course, Wiig took the moment to thank the women who organised the show.

Renditions of “Diet Pepsi” and “Abracadabra”

What’s an awards show without a musical performance? This one came in the form of Yang and Rogers busting out their take on Lady Gaga’s “Abracadabra”, complete with choreographed dance sequences, no less!

Later, in a sentence that truly sounds spat out by AI, Ben Platt took to the stage for a rendition of Addison Rae’s “Diet Pepsi”. Yep.

So there you have it folks, an assortment of wild moments from the wildest ceremony on the awards circuit. Still hoping I’m in contention for the Las Culturistas’ Pop Crave Award for Journalism, but there’s always next year!
