BALTIMORE — All six lawyers representing former Baltimore State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby against federal mortgage fraud and perjury charges asked Thursday to be removed from her defense.
In a joint filing, the defense attorneys cited an order from U.S. District Judge Lydia Kay Griggsby threatening to hold Mosby’s lead lawyer, A. Scott Bolden, in criminal contempt of court.
Griggsby on Tuesday ordered Bolden to explain why she shouldn’t punish him for disclosing confidential juror information in a motion, using profanity on the courthouse steps and filing court papers without a Maryland law license.
Mosby’s attorneys said they discussed their request to withdraw from the case with Federal Public Defender James Wyda, according to their filing.
The former Democratic state’s attorney is charged with two counts of perjury and two counts of making false statements on loan applications for down payments on a pair of properties in Florida.
Her trial is slated for late March.
