Aces star Kelsey Plum calls out WNBA for not supplying players with All-Star Weekend tickets

Aces guard Kelsey Plum called out WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert for the league not supplying players with tickets to attend this year’s All-Star Weekend festivities in Las Vegas.

Plum called out Engelbert after Aces teammate, Alysha Clark, tagged the commissioner in a post inquiring to support the league’s stars this weekend despite not having a ticket.

“ALL WNBA players should get a ticket to the all star game/skills challenge, I’m sick of my people being treated second class,” Plum wrote on Twitter. “The league gotta be better, there is no excuse. @CathyEngelbert I’m sure we can fix this before the weekend….”

Plum, who won All-Star Game MVP last season, luckily won’t need to look for a ticket to attend this year’s game since she was voted in as a reserve by coaches. Her teammate, though, will have to do some searching to get into the festivities that are taking place in the same arena she plays in during the regular season.

“All I’m trying to do is go support my teammates and friends at the All Star game…Hope I can find some tickets,” Clark said in a post that tagged the commissioner.

A’ja Wilson, who was voted All-Star captain this year, jokingly suggested a way to get Clark into the facility this weekend.

“Say you gotta get something out your locker and I’ll come grab you,” Wilson wrote on Twitter with two laughing emojis.

The Aces are heavily represented in this year’s All-Star weekend in front of home fans. Aces guards Jackie Young, Chelsea Gray and Plum were selected to participate in the game. Wilson received the most fan votes and selected the roster that will play alongside her on Saturday.

Gray and Plum will also represent Team Aces in the skills challenge while Young will showcase her sharpshooting in the 3-point shooting contest.
