AC Milan striker Olivier Giroud is currently in discussions with LAFC regarding a potential transfer this summer. Sources have revealed that the French international is eager to join last year's MLS Cup finalists.

Giroud's contract with Milan is set to expire this summer, prompting his interest in a move to the MLS. While he has engaged in talks with other MLS teams, his preference lies with LAFC, and he is hopeful that an agreement can be reached.

LAFC holds Giroud's discovery rights within the MLS, giving them priority in negotiations should he decide to make the move. Any other club interested in signing him will need to navigate discussions with the Los Angeles-based team.

LAFC recently secured the services of Giroud's former France teammate Hugo Lloris ahead of the 2024 season, further strengthening their squad.

With an illustrious career that includes stints at Arsenal, Chelsea, and multiple French clubs, Giroud has established himself as a prolific goalscorer. The 37-year-old is France's all-time leading scorer with 56 goals and played a pivotal role in Milan's Serie A title triumph in 2022.

During his time in Italy, Giroud has continued to impress, contributing 12 goals and eight assists in 26 Serie A appearances this season. His experience and goal-scoring prowess make him an attractive prospect for LAFC as they aim to bolster their squad.

On the international stage, Giroud has enjoyed success with the French national team, winning the 2018 World Cup and representing his country at multiple major tournaments.

LAFC has been a strong contender in the MLS in recent years, reaching the MLS Cup final in both 2022 and 2023. After clinching the title in 2022, they fell short against the Columbus Crew in the most recent final.

Heading into the summer transfer window, LAFC has flexibility in their roster with two designated player spots available, providing them with the opportunity to make significant additions to their squad.
