Peacock's "The Office" spinoff, "The Paper," sees the documentary crew who immortalized all the antics from Dunder Mifflin's Scranton, Pennsylvania office, finding their next subjects: the staff working on a struggling Midwestern newspaper, the Toledo Truth Teller.
While I wasn't massively confident about the spinoff going in, I came away from "The Paper" pleasantly surprised. And, given "The Office's" enduring popularity, I'm sure plenty of people have checked out the new series in the days since its Peacock debut on Thursday, September 4.
Seeing as "The Paper" pivoted to a full-season release not long before its premiere, I'd wager that many fans might well have raced through the entire season already. If that sounds like you, and you're now looking for your next watch, I've pulled together a round-up of five shows to watch while you wait for "The Paper" season 2, and where you can stream them.

'Abbott Elementary'
Quinta Brunson's acclaimed workplace comedy "Abbott Elementary" is a great follow-up to "The Paper." It's another show about enthusiastic workers trying to do their best (even with the odds against them). It's also incredibly funny.
The series takes us to the titular Philadelphian public school and introduces us to the staff trying to help their students succeed, no matter the challenge. "Abbott Elementary" is a kind, funny series taking on the education system, one with plenty of personality and charm, and one that (rightly) continues to win praise as the show wears on.

'Dream Productions'
"Dream Productions" is a comedy miniseries that combines the quirks of the workplace mockumentary with the creativity of Pixar's "Inside Out" world. The series takes place between Pixar's two "Inside Out" adventures and offers a behind-the-scenes look at Dream Productions, the movie studio working tirelessly to produce the dreams that play out every time Riley's head hits the pillow.
And when director Paula Persimmon (Paula Pell) learns her tween dreams aren't cutting it anymore, she's paired up with avant-garde director Xeni (Richard Ayoade) to come up with the next hit dream.

'The Bold Type'
If you want another light watch set within the world of journalism, then comedy-drama "The Bold Type" could be for you. This Freeform series ran for five seasons from 2017-2021, and revolves around the staff working to bring Scarlet, a women's magazine, to life, including best friends Jane Sloan (Katie Stevens), Kat Edison (Aisha Dee), and Sutton Brady ("Drop" and "The White Lotus" star, Meghann Fahy).
It's a bingeable version of the journalism world, one that documents the career, romance, and friendships of these three Scarlet staffers, and could be a worthy watch for anyone looking for more fun from the publishing world.

'The Office'
OK, sure, recommending you watch “The Office” next is quite possibly the most obvious suggestion I could offer, but as you’re reading this, someone, somewhere is probably considering another rewatch — the show's just that beloved.
Plus, small though it may be, there’s always a chance that someone might stream “The Paper” without having watched “The Office” before, and those viewers will no doubt want to see what the documentary crew got up to before they went behind the scenes at the Toledo Truth Teller.
If you’ve not seen it before — or it’s just been a while since you checked in with Michael Scott, Jim, Pam, Dwight, and the rest of the crew — Greg Daniels' “The Office” was the American remake of the British comedy series of the same name. The NBC show took viewers to Scranton, Pennsylvania, and documented all the weird and wonderful goings-on at the Scranton office of the Dunder Mifflin Paper Company.
Whether you’ve seen it before or not, “The Office” is the most logical follow-up watch I could suggest, and with 201 episodes to get through, it’s certainly going to fill plenty of time while you wait for “The Paper” to return.

'What We Do in the Shadows'
If you're looking to sink your teeth into another hilarious mockumentary series, then "What We Do in the Shadows" is a solid bet.
The series is based on the Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement movie of the same name and sees a crew documenting the lives and antics of four vampires — Nandor (Kayvan Novak), Laszlo (Matt Berry), Nadja (Natasia Demetriou), and energy vampire Colin Robinson (Mark Prosch) — who live together in Staten Island along with Nando's familiar, Guillermo (Harvey Guillén). It's six seasons' worth of fun; quotable, silly, and full of chaos, this FX supernatural comedy is well worth a watch.
