NEW DELHI: India's women's cricket team showcased a remarkable comeback in the second One Day International (ODI) against Bangladesh, as Jemimah Rodrigues led the charge with a stellar knock of 86 off 78 balls. Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur also contributed with a patient 52 off 88 balls, propelling India to a much-improved total of 228 for eight on Wednesday.
After winning the toss, Bangladesh's skipper Nigar Sultana elected to bowl first, hoping to take advantage of favourable bowling conditions. However, India's strong batting display quickly put them on the back foot.
The Indian team made two strategic changes to their playing XI compared to the first ODI, where they suffered a defeat by 40 runs (DLS Method) in a low-scoring encounter. Harleen Deol and Meghna Singh were included in the side, replacing Bareddy Anusha and Pooja Vastrakar, as India aimed to bolster their batting and bowling line-up.
Opener Smriti Mandhana set the foundation with a crucial contribution of 36, while Harleen Deol added a valuable 25 to the scoreboard.
India's comeback in the second ODI reflects their determination to level the series against Bangladesh and put up a strong fight. With a well-balanced side and notable performances from key players like Rodrigues and Kaur, the Indian team appears well-equipped to challenge their opponents.
Brief Scores:
India: 228 for 8 in 50 overs (Jemimah Rodrigues 88, Harmanpreet Kaur 52, Smriti Mandhana 36, Harleen Deol 25; Sultana Khatun 2/41, Nahida Akter 2/37) vs Bangladesh.
