In the not-too-distant past, the idea of a car making over a thousand horsepower seemed impossible. The Bugatti Veyron was the first production vehicle to reach that number, using sixteen cylinders and four turbochargers to achieve it. These days, engineering refinement and technology improvements—mainly batteries—help make power gains a walk in the park.
Even the least powerful vehicle on this list still breaks well into the four-figure mark, kicking off the countdown with 1,020 horsepower. Surprisingly, Lamborghini’s newest halo car, the Revuelto, doesn’t crack the top 20 with just 1,001 hp on tap. Nor does Porsche’s newest Taycan Turbo GT make the list, falling short by just 1 hp.
What’s even more impressive is that not every vehicle on this list is an ultra-pricey exotic. Even a few SUVs and pickup trucks crack the top 20.
With that in mind, let’s take a look at the most powerful cars you can buy in 2025.
20. Tesla Model S / Model X Plaid: $101,630 / $106,630

- 1,020 Horsepower / 1,050 Pound-Feet
- Top Speed: 200 MPH (Model S) / 163 MPH (Model X)
- 0-60 MPH: 1.99 / 2.5 Seconds
Tesla kicks off this list with the Model S and Model X, which both receive minor enhancements for 2025. Visual tweaks include revised styling to go with new wheel designs for improved aerodynamics and range. What hasn’t changed is the bonkers power the Plaid brings to the table, making 1,020 horsepower and 1,050 pound-feet of torque. A yoke steering wheel is still available for $1,000 to emphasize the SpaceX rocket-like sensation of pinning you to the seat.
19. Rivian R1T / R1S Quad: Pricing TBA

- 1,025 Horsepower / 1,198 Pound-Feet
- Top Speed: 130 MPH
- 0-60 MPH: 2.5 / 2.6 Seconds
Rivian is a company that refuses to compromise. That’s why the American EV maker offers two, three, and even four motor options in its three-row mid-size SUV and pickup truck. The Quad variant goes on sale later this year with 1,025 horsepower and 1,198 pound-feet of torque, with nary a sacrifice to utility.
18. Mercedes-AMG One: $2.7 Million

- 1,063 Horsepower / Torque TBA
- Top Speed: 219 MPH
- 0-60 MPH: 2.9 Seconds
The Mercedes-AMG One is one of a few vehicles entering a new class of hypercars: bringing Formula 1 hybrid drivetrains into the streets. In Mercedes’s case, that means a minuscule turbocharged 1.6-liter V-6 squeezed into a sophisticated hybrid setup good for 1,063 horsepower. No torque rating has been published by the company, citing the complexity of the electrified powertrain, but we’ll assume it’s a lot. Just 275 will be made at $2.7 million a pop.
17. Chevrolet Corvette ZR1: $178,195

- 1,064 Horsepower / 828 Pound-Feet
- Top Speed: 233 MPH
- 0-60 MPH: 2.3 Seconds
The C8 Corvette ZR1 is the first ‘Vette to crack the 1,000 horsepower mark. But as you’ll see later on in this last, it certainly isn’t the last. Powered by a twin-turbocharged 5.5-liter V-8, the ZR1 puts down a ridiculous 1,064 horsepower and races to 60 miles per hour in just 2.3 seconds. It’s a supercar without the supercar price tag.
16. Aston Martin Valkyrie: $3.5 million (Est.)

- 1,160 Horsepower / 664 Pound-Feet
- Top Speed: 220 MPH
- 0-60 MPH: 2.5 Seconds
Like the Mercedes above, the Aston Martin Valkyrie is a limited-run, Formula 1-powered hypercar for the buying public. In Aston’s case, though, the Valkyrie uses a 6.5-liter V-12 in its hybrid powertrain to make a combined output of 1,160 horsepower and 664 pound-feet of torque. However, while it’s said to be road-legal overseas, US-imported cars are likely to arrive under ‘Show or Display’ rules.
15. Ferrari F80: $3.9 Million

- 1,184 Horsepower / 793 Pound-Feet
- Top Speed: 217 MPH
- 0-60 MPH: 2.1 Seconds
Ferrari returns to the hypercar space with the F80. Unlike the previous LaFerrari, though, the F80 ditches its iconic V-12 for a hybridized 3.0-liter V-6, making a total of 1,184 horsepower. But even with fewer cylinders, it’s no slouch. It takes just 2.15 seconds for the F80 to reach 60 miles per hour, and it races on to a top speed of 217.5. Want one? Too bad, it’s already sold out.
14. Lucid Air Sapphire: $250,500

- 1,234 Horsepower / 1,430 Pound-Feet
- Top Speed: 205 MPH
- 0-60 MPH: 1.89 Seconds
The most potent variant of the Lucid Air gets its name from a gemstone. The Sapphire pulls out all the stops to make it the quickest and fastest electric sedan on the planet. Wearing carbon ceramic brakes, track-tuned suspension with dedicated drive modes, and staggered wheels on top of a three-motor setup, the Sapphire delivers high performance without compromising its core mission as a luxury sedan. Even better, you can have any color you want—as long as it’s blue.
13. Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X: Pricing TBA

- 1,250 Horsepower / 973 Pound-Feet
- Top Speed: TBA
- 0-60 MPH: 2.2 Seconds (est.)
The Corvette C8 is something of a mid-engine enigma. Its superior engineering seems to witness no limit to its capabilities as a supercar killer. Chevrolet decided that the ZR1 isn’t crazy enough and released the hybridized ZR1X. This version pairs the twin-turbocharged 5.5-liter LT7 V-8 with an electric motor on the front axle, making it all-wheel-drive. Think of the ZR1X as a Corvette E-Ray on steroids. Pricing hasn’t been announced, but this being a modern Chevy, expect to pay only pennies compared to the rest of the entrants on this list.
12. McLaren W1: $2.1 million

- 1,258 Horsepower / 988 Pound-Feet
- Top Speed: 217 MPH
- 0-60 MPH: 2.7 Seconds
McLaren’s long-awaited successor to the P1 is finally here. As before, the McLaren W1 jams a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 into the engine bay along with hybrid assist. This setup is good for a combined output of 1,258 horsepower and 988 pound-feet of torque, enabling a 0-60 mph time of just 2.7 seconds. Despite costing $2.1 million, all 399 examples have been spoken for.
11. SSC Tuatara Striker: $1.9 Million

- 1,350 Horsepower / 984 Pound-Feet
- Top Speed: 295 MPH
- 0-60 MPH: 2.5 Seconds
The SSC Tuatara made history by setting its own speed record in 2021, and then breaking it again in 2022, clocking 295 miles per hour at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Kudos to the twin-turbocharged 5.9-liter V-8 that delivers 1,350 horsepower and 984 pound-feet of torque to the rear wheels. With no hybrid in sight, SSC claims that if you run the engine on E85, power jumps to 1,750 hp and an insane 1,322 lb-ft.
10. Czinger 21C VMax: $2.0 Million

- 1,350 Horsepower / 1,350 Pound-Feet
- Top Speed: 253 MPH
- 0-60 MPH: 1.9 Seconds
Czinger may not be a household name, but the California-based supercar maker is responsible for one of the most powerful cars in the world. The 21C VMax upgrades the already-potent twin-turbo 2.88-liter V-8 to produce 1,350 horsepower and the same amount of torque. This earns it a top speed of 253 mph, along with your respect.
9. Koenigsegg CC850: $3.7 million

- 1,385 Horsepower / 1,020 Pound-Feet
- Top Speed: 280 MPH (est.)
- 0-60 MPH: 2.5 Seconds
Odd as it may be, the Koenigsegg CC850 is a callback to the CC8, the first model ever sold to the buying public. The E85-run twin-turbocharged 5.0-liter V-8 with 1,385 horsepower somehow manages to be the least interesting part of the car. That power rating accomplishes a power-to-weight ratio of one horsepower per kilogram, making for a rare engineering feat. Even more incredible, its nine-speed transmission can shift automatically, or leave the shifting up to you with a clutch pedal and a gated lever for a complete manual setup.
8. Bugatti Tourbillon: $4.0 Million

- 1,775 Horsepower / 1,696 Pound-Feet
- Top Speed: 276 MPH
- 0-60 MPH: 2.0 Seconds
Unlike its predecessors, Bugatti’s latest hypercar is entirely turbo-free. The Tourbillon’s all-new V-16 engine combines with three electric motors for an output of 1,775 horsepower and 1,696 pound-feet of torque. As before, this newfound power is only part of the opulent experience you get with a Bugatti. The key highlight sits in front of the driver, with the steering wheel and gauge cluster utilizing mechanical elements of high-quality watches, where the name comes from. Intricate details like this go a long way to justify the Tourbillon’s $4-million-plus price tag.
7. Hennessey Venom F5: $1.8 million

- 1,817 Horsepower / 1,193 Pound-Feet
- Top Speed: 310 MPH (est.)
- 0-60 MPH: 2.5 Seconds
There are three iterations of the Hennessey Venom F5: the coupe, the roadster, and the F5 Revolution, which is race-prepped. All three get you a twin-turbocharged 6.6-liter V-8 making 1,817 horsepower and 1,193 pound-feet of torque. Although the claimed top speed is unverified, it’s safe to say the Venom F5 delivers jaw-dropping performance.
6. Pininfarina B95: $4.8 million

- 1,877 Horsepower / 1,741 Pound-Feet
- Top Speed: 186 MPH
- 0-60 MPH: 2.0 Seconds
Turin-based design house Pininfarina is now an exclusive electric supercar maker. The open-top B95 is its latest creation, with a production run of just 10 examples worldwide. It will do the electric slide thanks to a quad-motor drivetrain putting out 1,877 horsepower and 1,741 pound-feet of torque. No roof is no problem for the B95, as the claimed 0-60 time is “less than two seconds.”
5. Pininfarina Battista: $2.2 million

- 1,900 Horsepower / 1,741 Pound-Feet
- Top Speed: 222 MPH (est.)
- 0-60 MPH: 1.79 Seconds (est.)
The other car in Pininfarina’s stable is the company’s first to be built in-house. A sibling and rival to Croatia’s Rimac Nevera, the Battista debuted with no fewer than four permanent-magnet synchronous electric motors for a total output of 1,900 horsepower and 1,741 pound-feet of torque. For $2.2 million, quickness is a necessity, not a perk.
4. Lotus Evija: $2.3 Million

- 1,972 Horsepower / 1,254 Pound-Feet
- Top Speed: 218 MPH
- 0-60 MPH: 2.6 Seconds (est.)
Lotus has come a long way since Colin Chapman set out to build lightweight sports cars. These days, it’s owned by Chinese auto giant Geely with a focus on high-performance EV heavyweights. Thankfully, the Evija holds a massive bank of power to offset the burden of batteries. With 1,972 horsepower on near-instant tap, this almost tops the list. Almost.
3. Aspark Owl: $3.1 Million

- 1,984 Horsepower / 1,475 Pound-Feet
- Top Speed: 273 MPH
- 0-60 MPH: 1.72 Seconds
Eeking out an additional twelve horsepower over the Brit is the Aspark Owl, another relatively unknown electric hypercar from Japan. Its four electric motors are good for 1,984 horsepower and 1,475 pound-feet of torque. Combine that with the Owl’s mostly carbon fiber body and suddenly, that insane 0-60 mph time of 1.72 seconds makes sense.
2. Rimac Nevera R: $2.5 Million

- 2,107 Horsepower / Torque TBA
- Top Speed: 256 MPH
- 0-60 MPH: 1.74 Seconds
Oh, there’s the Croatian! Yes, the Nevera manages to climb five places over the 2024 list thanks to a new edition. The Nevera R brings improved aerodynamics to the table as well as a host of other track refinements, such as stronger brakes and a larger rear diffuser. But the big story is four new electric motors rated for even more power than the “standard” Nevera’s 1,813 horsepower. No torque rating has been released for the Nevera R, but you get the picture.
1. Koenigsegg Gemera: $1.7 Million

- 2,300 Horsepower / 2,028 Pound-Feet
- Top Speed: 248 MPH
- 0-60 MPH: 1.9 Seconds
If the Lucid Air Sapphire is the quickest car with four doors, this is the quickest with four seats. The Koenigsegg Gemera is a surprisingly accommodating hypercar that happens to boast an overly potent powertrain. Using the company’s twin-turbo 5.0-liter V-8 with a trick hybrid setup showcases the best of both worlds, the greatest in gas and electrical engineering.
Any Gemera owners want to show off the number of seats? Let us know!
