13 British sportswear brands to have on rotation in 2026

A selection of the best British sportswear brands with leggings, tops, jackets, and boots .

Sport is entrenched in our culture, from Wimbledon to the Oxford-Cambridge Boat Race, so it makes sense that British sportswear brands are a go-to for style and support, across workout leggings, weather-proof jackets, walking shoes, and more.

"The heritage of British sportswear has been impactful with brands like Burberry, Fred Perry, Umbro, Reebok, Barbour, and Hunter all shaping both the fashion landscape and the sporting culture of the UK and beyond," says Lily Rice, sportswear designer and founder of The LRC. "The Americans tend to lead in inclusivity. They have a larger customer base, so they can hold more stock and offer more sizes and options. While the likes of Lululemon [founded in Canada] helped to create a gear change for sportswear and casual fashion, introducing the idea of ‘athleisure'."

But British brands always excel in craftsmanship, understatement, and timeless style. Whether you're looking for sportswear to wear during your workout or casually, take a look at the British sportswear brands doing the most in 2026.

British sportswear brands as chosen by the w&h health team

1. Bamboo Clothing (BAM)

Bamboo Clothing (or BAM for short) is a lone ranger in the world of activewear - and not just British brands. The company actually lives up to its sustainability promises. Fabrics are made from bamboo and recycled materials, and they come in zero plastic packaging. There's also a pre-loved section to give pieces a second life.

But as you step into a pair of Enduro or Balm leggings, the first thing you'll notice is the quality of these materials and the supportive hold, making them ideal for hiking, walking, Pilates, and strength training sessions.

Colour palettes in these leggings, tops, and socks combine nature-inspired hues, like sunsets and watercolours, with muted earth tones to cater for all outdoorsy styles.

2. Sweaty Betty

Founded in Notting Hill, London, in 1998 by Tamara and Simon Hill-Norton, Sweaty Betty became a world-famous brand by recognising the need for both beautifully designed and practical activewear.

Today, it's a global brand. Everyone from the Princess of Wales to Jennifer Aniston has been spotted sporting the collections, made from premium materials and crafted with support and comfort in mind.

The Power collection is perhaps the most famous of them all. The smooth, cinchable, and multi-pocketed leggings will be found in the drawers of women who love lifting weights and other high-intensity activities. For those who prefer something more mat-based, the Ultimate Move and Soft Flow tick the boxes.

Skiwear, loungewear, and everyday layers are a few of the latest additions to the range, as is the fantastic range of leopard print activewear.

3. Oner Active

Love the gym and feeling strong? So does personal trainer, influencer, and entrepreneur Krissy Cela, who grew up in the UK. It's why she created Oner Active. Designed to sculpt and support women through strength training and higher-intensity activities with ranges like UnifiedMove that help you bring confidence to the gym floor.

Collections like SoftMotion are a little more relaxed, helping you find comfort as you enjoy Pilates, yoga, and lower-intensity workouts.

Whatever way you move, you'll find a colour that suits you and your wardrobe, with several black activewear alternative shades to choose from in each design.

4. Le Col

Le Col is a British cycling brand founded in London and dedicated to making kit for casual riders, while also supporting a professional women's cycling team. If you're a fan of indoor riding through one of the best cycling apps like Zwift or Strava, you'll love some of the collaboration pieces in the collection with these platforms.

5. Gymshark

From its humble beginnings in a Birmingham garage in 2012, British sportswear brand Gymshark has become a billion-pound business. It's a go-to for gym wear, but thanks to the accessible, size-inclusive, and high-quality clothing made by a diverse range of designers, it's suitable for a whole range of other activities - from running to tennis.

There is a mind-blowing amount of choice as well, with 10 collections to support every activity, along with underwear and accessories, offering outdoor and gym training options.

6. Regatta Great Outdoors

Founded over 40 years ago, Regatta Great Outdoors is now one of the UK’s most recognisable outdoor clothing brands. The brand has been a British high-street staple for over 100 years and continues to evolve as a one-stop shop. One of its most successful sub-brands is the Goodmove collection, encompassing cardio activewear in the Go Move category. It launched in 2020 and five years later, we're seeing new collections and sportswear that's better than ever.

The popularity of the activewear range is no doubt down to the brand's quality and simplicity. These are understated, fuss-free pieces for all wellness activities, from walking and yoga to strength training and swimming. The items can be mixed and matched without colour clashes and the range feels more accessible in terms of pricing, size, and design than some of the more premium brands.

8. Rapha

Rapha is a British cycling and lifestyle brand, founded in London in 2004. You're probably familiar with it if you like cycling workouts. The Pro Team collection is worn in the professional peloton but the brand also offers high-quality cycling clothing, shoes, and accessories for the everyday enthusiast.

The brand is unique in offering an extensive range of styles designed too with designs to suit every rider, from shorts and bibs with a chamois to off-bike-friendly alternatives in bright and neutral colourways. No matter how you ride, there's an option for you.

With colourways reminiscent of the sea and its surroundings, Finisterre deals in neutral colourways with occasional bright pops of colour.

11. NAIA Active

Naia Active is the new collection by Tess Daly and Gayle Lawton. Together, the two founded Naia Beach in 2015 and since then, have launched the sportswear arm of the brand.

From leggings to throw-over jackets for drives to the gym, each piece is made with premium fabrics and designed with a flattering fit.

Everyday Softline is the brand's richest collection, featuring snake prints, fig, blue, and black colourways, but there are a plethora of activewear and loungewear styles.

12. Contur

Contur was founded by Claire Turpin, a fitness instructor who spotted a gap in the sustainable activewear market after becoming a mum and experiencing a drop in body confidence. Focused on celebrating the individuality of people, rather than conforming to a mythical 'ideal', their motto is, 'You’ve got it, we flaunt it.' The pieces, made using regenerated ocean plastic and available in a rainbow of colours, include leggings, crop tops, vests, and shorts. There are two collections: Limitless and Classic, aimed at yoga and high-intensity workouts respectively. There is also a classic black jumpsuit for dancing in the studio – or on a night out if you are feeling especially bold.

13. Pruzan

Founded in 2022 by two female athletes who wanted to create stylish performance wear to go the distance, Pruzan is aimed at runners. The limited collection includes mesh singlets, leggings, and some of the best running shorts for women in both marathon and fitted styles, as well as sports bras and T-shirts in black, orange, white, and pale yellow colourways.
