Ukraine’s president gives horrific account of Russian war crimes in address to UN Security Council

Likening the Russian bombing of his country to the bloody air raid on the Spanish town of Guernica by Nazi Germany, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy told Spain's parliament on Tuesday the West must do more to force Moscow to abandon its invasion.

Evidence mounts in Bucha, Ukraine, indicating that Russian troops killed civilians arbitrarily and mercilessly.

In a historic address to the UN Security Council, the Ukrainian leader said Moscow's forces are "no different" to Daesh as he described the death and destruction left behind in Bucha. He also blasted delegates for failing to oust Russia.

KYIV, Ukraine — Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, in an impassioned address to the United Nations Security Council, on Tuesday likened Russian atrocities in his homeland to Nazi war crimes, calling for Nuremberg-style tribunals to hold Moscow accountable.

Volodymyr Zelensky called for the UN rules to be re-written and for Russia to face Nuremburg-style war trials.

The reported atrocities in Bucha are "only one of many examples of what the occupiers have been doing on our land."

The Ukrainian president said the atrocities committed in his country are the worst seen since the Second World War.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy urged the United Nations on Tuesday to act and reform its system which gives Security Council permanent member Russia a veto, saying everything must be done to ensure the international body works effectively.
