WASHINGTON — Charles Booker became the Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate in Kentucky on Tuesday, setting up his long-shot challenge to Sen. Rand Paul in November.

Pennsylvania has an open Senate seat for the first time in 12 years. While the Democratic race was easily decided, the Republican primary looked like it's headed for a recount.

Five states hold primaries Tuesday. The top race is in Pennsylvania, where the GOP Senate primary will be another test of Trump's influence, while Democratic voters seem to favor John Fetterman.

Pennsylvania is at the heart of a dramatic midterm primary election race. On the Republican side there is a former Wall Street executive vying with a celebrity physician and a surging conservative firebrand. Their likely rival is a Democrat recovering from a stroke.

Four candidates — Jake Bequette, Heath Loftis, Jan Morgan, and incumbent John Boozman — are running in the Republican primary on May 24, 2022, for U.S. Senate in Arkansas. Boozman, Bequette, and Morgan have led in polling and fundraising.

In a poll conducted over the weekend of a relatively large sample of very likely Republican primary voters, former President Donald Trump's endorsed candidates for two of the state's biggest races — Dr. Mehmet Oz for U.S. Senate and Doug Mastriano for governor — were leading the pack.
