The Met Office’s red danger to life weather warning has been cut back from midnight to 6pm in Scotland.

Warnings from both the Met Office and the Environment Agency come as storm continues to batter the UK

Storm Babet has caused havoc across the UK, with strong winds and rough seas along the east coast, record breaking rainfall and river levels in Scotland, overtopped flood defences, closed roads and railways and sadly at least two deaths. The impacts are not over as further rain is expected.

As much as 200mm of rain is expected to fall on central and eastern areas of Scotland and there is a possibility of 70mph gale-force winds affecting northern parts of the UK
