Glasgow has been enjoying the warmer weather as of late, but forecasters at BBC Weather have warned locals of possible thunder and lightning that could come into place by the weekend.

The Met Office have said that the capital should expect to see highs of 27C across the next week and lows of 20C until Monday with thunder and lightning also forecast.

A four-day "extreme heat" warning came into force in parts of England and Wales on Thursday, with temperatures poised to top 35 Celsius in another heatwave that could cause wildfires and pressure water supplies and transport services.

It comes as drought is expected to be declared for the most affected areas in the south and east of England

A Heat Health Alert is also now in place

While the mercury isn't set to soar quite as high, the Met Office has issued an extreme heat weather warnings ahead of Friday and Saturday - with No10 being urged to take emergency action

The forecast for Leeds is completely dry and sunny all day

The Met Office has raised the Fire Severity Index to exceptional, the highest level, for much of southern England and part of Wales.
