Budget airline targets profits of £1 billion

The airline said it expects its profit before tax between July and September to be between £650 million and £670 million.

Several thousand passengers were stranded at airports, hotels and connection depots following the recent system-wide glitch of the UK air traffic control systems. Some passengers were told of flight cancellations in advance, so they could make alternative travel plans.

The alliance believes the UK can become a global leader in developing hydrogen-powered flights.

Transport Secretary Mark Harper said he wanted to make sure stranded passengers could get home as quickly as possible.
