Since 2000, road racing legend Joey Dunlop stood as the most successful rider at the TT with 26 wins that only went matched last Saturday when his nephew Michael scored his 26th success in the opening Supersport race.

The 35-year-old matched the all-time record of 26 previously held by his late uncle Joey Dunlop since 2000 last Saturday in the opening Supersport race of TT 2024.

The Ulsterman made history in Saturday’s opening race day of the 2024 event when he won the first Supersport race of the event, which meant he equalled the all-time record of 26 victories held by his late uncle Joey Dunlop since 2000.

Michael Dunlop bagged his 26th TT race win, sharing a record with his late uncle Joey Dunlop. Michael also set a new superbike lap record of 135.970 miles per hour.

Dunlop equalled the all-time win record of 26 held by his late uncle Joey Dunlop in Saturday’s opening Supersport race and looked on course to go one better in the six-lap Superbike contest on Sunday afternoon.

Since his final TT success in 2000 in the Ultra Lightweight contest in 2000, just weeks before his death in a race in Estonia, Joey Dunlop’s tally of 26 victories on the island has been unmatched.

Dunlop moved into second on the all-time winners’ list at the TT in 2023 when he notched up his 25th success, putting him one off the record held by his late uncle Joey Dunlop since 2000.
