A day after it concluded its three-day survey on the BBC’s premises in Delhi and Mumbai, the income tax department on Friday claimed to have “unearthed crucial evidences” and “irregularities” in “certain tax payments”.

Income tax officials have ended their survey at the BBC offices in Delhi and Mumbai, according to the British broadcaster. The offices were searched over three days with the government suggesting that the move was linked to an alleged violation of transfer pricing rules and diversion of profits.

Indian tax officials on Thursday left the BBC's offices in New Delhi and Mumbai, after a three-day inspection that involved the cloning of data from some digital devices, the tax department said.

The income tax “survey” at BBC’s Delhi and Mumbai offices entered the third day on Thursday. A team of two dozen tax officials are probing alleged transfer pricing violations and diversion of profits.
