Heavy spells of rains lashed parts of the city on Monday evening disrupting normal life, even as motorists waded through several inundated roads while returning home from work spaces. The city has been witnessing moderate to heavy spells of rain since Sunday evening.

Andhra Pradesh receives ‘normal’ rainfall during southwest monsoon, says IMD. Seven of the State’s 26 districts register deficit rainfall, the IMD says, and forecasts rain for the next two days under the influence of active weather conditions during the monsoon withdrawal period.

Monsoon withdrawal begins in West Rajasthan on September 25, a week behind normal. August rains were 36% below normal, but Sept rains 16% above normal, reducing overall deficit. Sept rains most above-normal in S. India & C. India, below-normal in east and northeast India. Monsoon withdrawal takes until mid-Oct.
