Family members could use the festive period to help older relatives check eligibility for Pension Credit.

People who are over the State Pension age could be due money, according to the latest data from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). And whilst woman are mostly affected, it should be noted that men are too.

DWP has paid back £209.3m in State Pension underpayments since January 2021.

The amount paid back so far is a ‘drop in the ocean’ when compared to the nearly £1.5 billion estimated to have been underpaid, one expert said.

Pension Credit is set to increase by up to £28 per week from April.

New cost of living payments are on the way along with more support for energy bills.

Chancellor Jeremy Hunt confirmed that the state pension will be uprated in line with inflation at 10.1% from April 2023.
