The 28-year-old man, who remains at large, is named in a police alert as the gunman who opened fire on a marked Chicago police car around 5:45 p.m. in the 6100 block of South Paulina Street.

CHICAGO — A Chicago police officer was expected to spend the night at a hospital after she was shot and seriously wounded during a traffic stop late Wednesday afternoon in the Englewood neighborhood.

Police continue to look for two people who ran off after crashing the car near 64th and Bishop streets.

The 36-year-old was in the front yard of a home about 1:10 p.m. in the 6000 block of South Racine when someone shot him in the head, Chicago police said.

He was inside a residence about 2:50 p.m. in the 6900 block of South Green Street when someone opened fire, striking him in the face and abdomen, Chicago police said.

The man was on the sidewalk in the 5700 block of South Carpenter Street when someone opened fire, striking him in the head and body. At least 12 evidence markers could be seen on the sidewalk near the man’s body, which was covered with a white sheet.

Both men, ages 29 and 38, were taken to University of Chicago Medical Center, where they were pronounced dead, police said.

Isaac Corona, who was on parole, was charged with the murder of Justin Gamino in a drive-by shooting, while Antonio Gonzalez, who was out on bond, was charged with attempted murder of a police officer following the incident Monday in Englewood.

“Look what you’ve done. Englewood still has six aldermen. … It’s gonna take an hour and a half for Altgeld Gardens residents who were taken out of my ward and put in the 10th Ward to get to their alderman,” Ald. Anthony Beale (9th), said Monday.
