The Eurovision Song Contest will respect countries' decisions on participating in next year's competition, its chief said Friday, after several European broadcasters threatened a boycott if Israel takes part.

The Dutch public broadcaster, AVROTROS, has confirmed the Netherlands will join Slovenia, Iceland, Spain and Ireland in boycotting next year's Eurovision Song Contest if Israel is involved.

The BBC has been urged to join Irish broadcaster RTE and Slovenian broadcaster RTVSLO in boycotting Eurovision if Israel is involved.
